Consumers are quite familiar with Tesla, which is highly visible in and around most cities. The company only manufacturers electric vehicles, and is the clear market leader by most measures. Other manufacturers of internal combustion vehicles are now playing catch-up.

Hyperloop technology advances

Investors have likely heard of hyperloop transportation systems from Tesla’s Elon Musk or Virgin’s Sir Richard Branson. The concept is pretty straightforward, being essentially a pod, or train, propelled through a sealed tube in low air pressure by an electromagnetic levitation and propulsion system.

Media spin and investing

Global media recently reported that Tesla vehicles manufactured in China are subject to a “massive recall”, or words to this effect. Of course, albeit with short-lived impact, investors saw the stock price dip on this news. Clearly, the story didn’t help Tesla’s reputation, but, no matter, the media companies boosted their revenues.

Don’t ditch the lithium space #4

On March 2, 2021 we wrote about LTHM.N. While the dramatic run up in share price since Fall 2020 went a little too far, news today (March 30, 2021) provides ongoing confirmation of the investing thesis. In reaction to the news, the stock jumped US$1.16 to US$16.91 by the close of markets, or 7.3651 percent.

Don’t ditch the lithium space #3

We have had one major disappointment in the lithium space, being Nemaska Lithium (formerly NMX.TO), but, as we have written previously, other investments such as LAC.TO have been great opportunities and have performed incredibly well (trading at the time of writing (March 2, 2021) at $25.45). We have also managed to ride the Vision Lithium Inc. (VLI.V) wave, selling on February 11, 2021 as high as $0.93. With the shares trading now at $0.33, we will continue to watch to see if there is an opportune time to get back in.
