When people think of The North West Company, they tend to think of the fur trade of centuries past and their great rivalry with the Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) (founded in 1779 and 1670 respectively).  Eventually, the competitors merged.  A century and a half later, in 1987, the modern day NWC.TO was formed when the northern stores of HBC
